  • King City Sessions Live Review

Did you miss Loners Society at King City Sessions?

South Carolina Music Guide published a live review of the show.  Here's what they had to say about Loners Society:

First up was Loners Society, led by Matt Megrue and containing members of Wrenwood, amongst others. Megrue travels in a stream of consciousness style of lyrical imagery with an obvious bent towards social meaning.

I felt like he was giving nods to musical antecedents like Springsteen and Dylan, but also carving out a chunk of the current Americana musical pie for himself. I think Loners Society could easily fit on a bill with the modern folk rock of Frank Turner or the gritty southern rock of the Drive-By Truckers.

All of the bands had the great Charlie Thompson on steel guitar during at least some songs and his contributions can’t be underestimated. How much he filled out the sound! The fluid lead guitar work of Dan Rainey could also be heard in every band incarnation tonight and between the two of them, the music never lacked enough dimension.

Matt gave the audience his impressions and background on each of his tunes, which included a Blind Melon cover."

Do you like stories? Do you like music? Do you like stories about music?

For the past month, we have been hinting at a big announcement, provoking anticipation, fervor, and excitement. You can stop holding your breath, because we’re here to shed some light on our cryptic social media posts:

We are excited to announce our very 1st King City Sessions on Saturday, April 20, at Ocean Industries Recording Studios!

King City Sessions is a rare, intimate experience where you, the audience, will have the opportunity to see and hear: Tyler Boone, Loners Society, and Wrenwood not only perform, but also talk about the stories and events that inspired the songs as well as hang out with all of the artists.

The entire event will also be filmed (audio and video) for release later this year.

This King City Sessions is an invite-only event, closed to the public; however, there are still spots available for King City Records Crown Club members. Joining the Crown Club is free. You will not only receive access to the first Sessions, but a lot of other cool King City merch, unreleased recordings, and event access as well.
